The Brief:

The client wanted an exciting program that would provide a unique and memorable experience for participants. They sought a program that prioritizes sustainability, promotes responsible tourism, and fosters community engagement. The program should offer opportunities for participants to leave a positive social and environmental footprint.

Challenges:

  • Educating and engaging participants to actively participate and adopt sustainable behaviors
  • Ensuring meaningful engagement with local communities

Program Overview:

Discover Slovenia, the first Green Country of the World and leave your social footprint

Duration: 3 nights (1 night in Bohinj, 2 nights in Ljubljana)

Number of Participants: 25

Date: September 2022

Day 1: Arrival and Introduction to Bohinj

Upon arrival at Ljubljana airport, participants were greeted with a traditional snack \”to go,\” provided in sustainable packaging. They embarked on a train ride to Bohinj, experiencing sustainable means of transport. After a short refreshment at Heritage Hotel Sunrose 7, a holder of Slovenia Green Accommodation, participants started a bike tour to the heart of Triglav National Park, surrounded by breath-taking greenery. They enjoyed a canoe ride and experienced the thrill of flying through the air like ski jumpers. Their visit left a long-lasting socially beneficial imprint, while simultaneously helping to revive a treasured part of the Bohinj heritage. Dinner was served at a local restaurant focusing on locally sourced ingredients.

Day 2: Immersive Experiences in Bohinj and Ljubljana

The day began with a visit to a local beekeeper near the iconic Lake Bled, providing participants with insights into sustainable beekeeping practices. Lunch was served at Hisa Linhart, a renowned restaurant with 1 Michelin star, known for its dedication to using local ingredients. At Hisa Linhart, participants received a beautiful gift from a local community that supports individuals with mental disorders, promoting social inclusion. In Ljubljana, participants explored the city from a different perspective, guided by Kings of the Streets, a local NGO supporting the homeless. Dinner was enjoyed at Second Fiddle, a restaurant designed to empower individuals with special needs.

Day 3: Cultural Immersion and Sustainable Engagement

Participants engaged in an impactful activity at the Slovene Ethnographic Museum, where they had the opportunity to create toys using natural materials. These toys were donated to a local kindergarten, promoting sustainable play and fostering community engagement. The day culminated with a culinary class led by Mr. Janez Bogataj, an esteemed expert on Slovenian gastronomy and culinary history, emphasizing the importance of local and sustainable food practices.

Day 4: Ljubljana Gourmet Tour and Departure

The final day began with a Ljubljana Walking Gourmet Tour, where participants visited various styles of restaurants, tasting different dishes and selected drinks. The trip concluded with an opportunity for participants to offset their carbon footprint and compensate for their emissions by funding a local environmental project, promoting environmental responsibility.

As a DMC agency committed to sustainable incentives, we are proud to offer these transformative experiences that combine adventure, cultural immersion, and social responsibility. By choosing our sustainable incentive trips to Slovenia, our clients can make a meaningful impact while enjoying a memorable and fulfilling journey.
