Although the Adriatic coast is the one that everybody knows about, up to ten thousands of tourists from all over the world still come to Croatia every day to see Plitvice lakes, the largest and the oldest Croatian national park. Plitvice is a beautiful lush reserve full of waterfalls and picturesque lakes, linked together by miles of pleasant floorboard walks. Famous Rick Steves described them as a European version of Niagara Falls, sprinkled over a densely forested Grand Canyon. It takes more or less six hours to explore the lakes on foot, or you can take the advantage of one of the park’s pollution-free electric boats and walk a few hours less. There are several different options you can chose from, just don’t miss out one of Europe’s most beautiful hikes!
